Aim: To
provide a meeting place for the community and offer basic living
skills in social well-being.
We are
working with members of Kilbowie St Andrews Parish Church, Clydebank,
(top picture right) to build and operate a new Centre on
vacant ground adjacent to their Church (bottom picture right). The
Centre will provide a safe meeting place for individuals of any
denomination living near the Church and in surrounding areas whereby
they can benefit from services provided to improve their social
wellbeing. It is intended to have a café, healthy eating cookery
classes, counselling services relating to debt, parenting and
bereavement and a crèche for children of parents attending health
clinics/doctors’ appointments.
Many of our
Elders/Board Members and members of the congregation have made
personal contributions towards the initial legal costs associated
with setting up a company limited by guarantee. Following a
presentation in September 2007 to a joint Session/Board meeting
advising how the project was taking shape, it was agreed that our
Church provide a further £6000 towards the initial costs.
The final
cost of building the Centre has yet to be determined, however it
will clearly be substantial. While it is known that some funds will
be made available from a number of sources, there is no doubt that
members of Kilbowie St Andrews Church, with our support, have made a huge
commitment and, in so doing, have put their trust in God. There is
still a very long way to go, but the end result whereby Christ’s
Church will reach out and touch the community, will more than
justify the effort.
Please pray
for the project and all those involved.
